Please come out and support Peterstown Middle School basketball. 🏀

On Thursday December 12, 2024 from 4:00-6:00, Mrs. Cottle, Technology Integration Specialist and STEM teacher, hosted a community open house for students and families in the Peterstown PK8 STEM Lab to showcase Computer Science Education and Coding. Many people attended the event which featured a variety of hands-on coding and robotics materials for students and families to explore. Several teachers assisted such as Janet Haag and Amy Miller, and several PMS Robotics Club members assisted with robot activities and let students try out the robots they have built for competition. Mrs. Cottle would like to thank the families who brought their children and participated in the event as well as those who helped! This is the second year she has hosted this event. This annual event will be held the second Thursday in December each year for National Computer Science Education Week and Hour of Code.

Mrs. Newberry and her students celebrated Hanukkah today through the eyes of Anne Frank.

After reading a Christmas book together, the Educator’s Rising company made personalized elf crafts to complete with kindergarten students. Practicing colors, hand eye coordination, and cutting with scissors were a few of the skills highlighted.

Future Business Leaders of America Vice President, Maizy Boggess, welcomes Peterstown’s new custodian, Darlene Carter by giving her a custom Pirate shirt made by FBLA club members.

The PMS HOSA company got to see what a deer heart is all about today.

We hope each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our schools will be closed from November 25th to the 29th. Classes will resume on December 2nd.

Attention Parents of Homeschool Students in grades 3-8 and 11:
It is that time of year to begin thinking about end-of-year testing. Assessments for homeschool students are required in grades 3, 5, 8, & 11. Monroe County Schools offers testing in the following grade levels: 3-8, & 11. There are different assessment options that are available for you to choose for your child/children. They are as follows:
1. Standardized Test given by a certified person/organization
2. Portfolio evaluated by a certified teacher
3. WVGSA State Test/SAT School Day (11th grade) - given to Monroe County Schools Students
If you choose the WVGSA/SAT School Day for the end of year assessment for your child/children, then please complete the link at the bottom to register. We must receive it no later than Friday, December 13, 2024. If you choose the WVGSA/SAT option, then your child/children's name(s) will be given to the school that they would be attending if they were enrolled in the public-school system. You will need to contact the Principal/Administrator of that school, and they will give you the testing dates for your child/children. Your child/children will report to that location on their scheduled test dates and complete the WVGSA/SAT along with the other students in the school.
If you should have any questions/concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will be glad to assist in any way that we are able. My contact information is as follows:
btuggle@k12.wv.us (Bobbie Tuggle, Director of Technology and Assessment Coordinator) (304) 646-1650
Thank you for your time, and I hope that everyone is having a great school year thus far!
