Mr. Richmond's, Law and Public Safety, students delivered a special gift to Kathy for National Security Officer Appreciation Week 2024.

Mrs. Bradley's early childhood students had the opportunity to participate in a crucial training session led by Tanya Ware, where they received their CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. This training has given the students a sense of confidence and readiness in case they ever need to use these important life-saving skills. Such proactive education can have a lasting impact, potentially making them more vigilant and prepared throughout their lives.

Monroe County FFA officers gathered with 80+ officers from Greenbrier East, Greenbrier West, Summers County, Shady Spring, Surveyor(Liberty-Raleigh), and Mountain View Middle FFA chapters at the Greenbrier State Forest on Wednesday, Sept ember 11 for the Southeastern Region Officer Training. While there, members participated in team-building exercises and developed goals for their Chapter officer team. Events were led by State FFA officers Hanna Crum and Laney Barns. The event was finished off with lunch provided by FFA advisors from each chapter. Be sure to be on the lookout for all of the great activities, and contests your Monroe County members will be involved in this school year!

Students from Ms. Weiss’ Therapeutic Services Program and Mr. Hancock’s Biomedical Science Program competed at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Houston, Texas. This is a huge competition with hundreds of students in each category. Although we didn’t bring back any medals, we had a great experience sharing the enthusiasm of like-minded students from all around the world. We also visited museums, the Houston Zoo, and other sites around the huge city. While returning home the flight was rerouted due to storms causing us to miss our connecting flight. As a result, students also were able to spend a couple of days sightseeing in New York City. While in NYC students visited Times Square and Rockefeller Center. They were also able to stroll through Central Park before returning to Monroe County.

Are you wondering if your child has their required immunizations for the upcoming school year? Do you have medical records that need to be sent in for the nurse? Are you wondering if your child's medical order has been received yet? You can address these concerns in one location, your student's health portal. If you have not signed up, make sure to do so! This will also allow you to monitor when your child sees the nurse and the expiration date of medications they have at school. If you have not received the registration email, reach out to the County School Nurse Jessica Thomas at (304)772-3094 ext. 322 or by email to jessica.r.thomas@k12.wv.us with your child's name, their school, and email address that you wish to use. All emails will come from noreply@studentehr.com Please search your inbox for that prior to contacting the nurse as this is the only way to register.
