
This year's Annual Project Graduation "Hoopfest" is April 11th-13th. There will be brackets available for 3rd grade students and up, as well as adult teams. NOTICE OF VACANCY ON BOARD OF EDUCATION
The Monroe County Board of Education is currently seeking a permanent resident of Monroe County residing in the Western District to fill the recently vacated seat of Sabrina Stutts to be held until June 30, 2026.
Letters of interest must be received on or before 3:00 pm on March 28, 2025. Those letters shall be sent by mail to Board President Candace Sabol, Monroe County Schools, PO Box 330, Union, WV 24983 or by email candace.sabol@k12.wv.us
Eligibility requirements for county board members can be found in WV Code 18-5-1a.

Members of the Monroe County FFA stockman’s teams competed this past weekend at the Virginia Tech Block and Bridle Weekend.
Two teams and an individual competed in different areas from meat identification, hay evaluation, and animal placing. The field consisted of over 60 teams and 280 individuals.
Although Monroe County did not place in the top 10 we had a good showing in our first outing for the year. The teams consisted of Shailyn Wickline, Kinley Reese, Katelin Fullen, Luke Fullen, Megan Richardson, Mackenzie Richardson, Jairus Broyles, Wilson Boggess, and Lydia Sauselein. The next competition is on April 11 at the WV Beef Expo at Jackson's Mill in Weston WV. The teams are coached by FFA advisors Shawn Hill and Mitchell Boone as well as volunteer Michelle Ballard.

Biomedical Science Students had the opportunity to observe careers in different departments at Princeton Community Hospital. Students were allowed to pick a specific area of interest to better understand what a typical day is like. Areas of focus were Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medical Imaging, and Surgery.


CONGRATULATIONS to the Lady Mavericks for their win against Wyoming East last night. They will play Wheeling Central in the semifinals on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center.

James Monroe High School will host a LSIC meeting March 25, 2025, to discuss spending of funds and attendance. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in discussion. The meeting will be at 4:00 p.m.
